Martin-August 2004 violoncello ( inlaid instrument )-Bland New ! ( op,43-vc5)

Who will be this instrument's owner ?

You , he ,she ...or...

In 2004,this instrument was introduced by Mr.Martin Storey at Morioka/Kenji&Takuboku memorial museum (on Aug.28th) and Morioka cultural hall/Malios(on Sep.5th) with the music of Bach(Six Suites for Solo Cello).

He came to Morioka with his wife ,Kanako Ito(violinist,2nd award at Geneva international contest, concert mistress of Kansas city orchestra).

There were 4 concerts held in Morioka (Kenji&Takuboku memorial museum /Morioka cultural hall),Miyako and Miyagi.

The concert at Kenji&Takuboku memorial museum was started with the unaccompanied solo cello of Bach continued to the duo with a violin played by Kanako Ito.

The strings blasting in first class made us feel melting into moments of felicity.

"exhibition of Alphonse Mucha"called flores of Art Nouveau was held there.Playing in space of Alphonse Mucha's works seemed like a proverb "Meeting only once in a lifetime"

If you click upper red part, you can see Mr.Martin Storey's playing violon cello in front of Mucha's works.(videotaped in reheasal not in real stage prohibited videotaping)

The second cello made in 2004.
Inlaid work with white shells.
It's been over ten years since the last time I worked on an inlaid instrument.
It was such an exhaustive work for me physically and mentally.

Please try to imagine how this instrument would sound…
Actually this cello has already been played at different concerts by Mr. Martin Storey
with a chamber orchestra and with a large orchestra.

When Martin Storey played this in the concert, the decorations was not done on the rib yet.

I finished decorations after removing varnish on the neck and the rib. The picture on the left shows the final form of "Martin-August"

I painted decorations based on masterpieces of a maestro in Renaissance, Michelangeli.

I really appreciate at many people( about 3000) coming to "The 2004 Stringed Instrument Fair"for 3days.

Thank you for giving this cello nice power through test playing by not only amateurs but professional.

This cello seemed to become more powerful.

Angel ( La Scuola di Atene ) violoncello 2004 ,4 -Bland New ! ( op,42-vc4 )

Inlaid cello ordered by Mr. O who graduated from the master's course at Tokyo University.
An autograph of a person that he has a great respect as his teacher, and pictures of angels, which I copied from Raffaello's picture, are drawn on top of the back board. The color of the left one is close to its actual one.
Take a close look at the part under the finger board, and you will be able to see something there.
I'll put out its photo later, so please wait for a while. <Inlaid cello with an autograph on>

AUI model 2004 ( copied by the outline and f-hole of Stradivari "BETTS")-Bland New ! ( op,41)

Ordered by a lady violinist
Its whole out line and the f-hole being copied from the design of "BETTS" , one of the Stradivarius collections of his golden period.
"Stradivarius", so famous for the excellency, has such variety in the forms, and with the shapes of f-holes.
"BETTS", especially I feel, has sense of feminineness, so I incorporated the pattern of its design for the violinist.

For the upper board, I used a wood board that has a similar grain pattern to the "BETTS" has. And I also used one solid wood for the back.
The patterns you see on top of the back board is solely original, and the lines are thinner, and it's finished sensitively, fitting to the design of "BETTS" <inlaid violin>

AMANEKO MODEL, violoncello 2003, 12,25 ( op,40-vc3)

Ordered by an amateur cellist Mr. U.
He asked Mr. Mitsuhiro Amada, a cellist and painter, and is known for his "Ama・neko(cats) collections, for some of his original paintings to be put on his instrument. I drew these pictures f cats using black resin. (I tried to trace all the painter's brush touches as faithfully as I could.)
Mr. U made a kind comment about this violin.
" The pictures are, of course, very attracting, but beyond that, the essence of this cello is in its tone.

decorated violin 2003"Northern Cross"

My early work, just started working as a violin maker.
Its finishing looks very amateur in many parts, and this is the only violin I have kept at my shop.
Just recently, thought of working on this again, and drew some patterns on it by hand
.

decorated violin 2003"Northern Land "

Ordered by a person who lives in Hakodate, Hokkaido.
This violin is a typical model of our shop products.
The person's name is not put on the violin, but a simple design is laid on the back as a sample to show to other orderers.

KADOWAKI 2002
To this violin, decorations are seen at the four edges of the top part of the back, carved with the chisel and filled with black resin.
The orderer requested his family emblem, a fan, be put on top in the center.
The design of the fan was so detailed and it was just impossible to be carved that I used a very fine paint brush to draw it.

SAKIZO 2001
At the orderer's request, the varnish has a deeper hue, light red, and has been finished to look antique.
The orderer's name is being carved on the back, with gold dust rubbed in to the letters, also on the request of the orderer.
This violin was completed and passed into the orderer's hands in the middle of November.

Hellier violin model 1986
( Before Varnishing )
"Hellier"violin has been greatly a significant and special instrument to me.
This orderer's name is not carved but hand -drawn with black resin.
Encountering this instrument was the beginning for me to start aiming to be a specialist of decorated instruments.
Surely this instrument is the starting point of my shop.
Yet, my instruments are not merely exact copies of Hellier, Stradivari.
Both the outlines and patterns of my works are the originals of my own.

Murai 1996(SAKI)
The "f" ( or sound ) holes are quite long, and both the styles of the " f " holes and the outline can be described as so-called "Guarneri Model", yet it is nonetheless my original.

Hitomi 1994
On this violin, I designed a pattern of a rabbit holding a violin besides her name and arabesques in accordance with the
orderer's request, and filled resin in the patterns.
All these patterns are chiseled, and filld with black resin, mixed with ebony paste.
I have also inlaid an emblem of this young lady's high school in the center.

Mari 1989
Unfortunately I have this picture only with me for this violin, only of the bottom part of the side.
Since the snake is the orderer's sign of Chinese & Japanese zodiac, it has a design of a snake.
Also due to her request, designs of stars are carved and inlaid on the back, but too bad that no other pictures are left at hand.

Momoko 1/32
May, 1986
This ( right in the picture ) is the the first violin that my
three-year-old niece, now a college student, had got. This is also the very first violin I had made since I became independent and opened up my own shop.
The size is, so to speak, "1/ 32", much smaller than general, small "1/16" size available on the market.
