|
|
|
| 1955 |
Born in Morioka, the capital city of Iwate
prefecture, Japan. |
| 1975 |
Entered Muroran Institute of Technology
( National College ), and majored in Architectural engineering.
Along with studying architectural designing, structural dynamics
and aucostic engineering, loved string music, and got interested
in stringed instruments themselves. |
| 1977 |
In the third year in college, went to Italy,
Spain, etc. for making researches into European architecture, and
at that time I stopped by in Cremona, in order to visit around the
workshops of Morassi, Conia and others who are widely known and
regarded as fine craftsmen in modern era, and had received a great
impression there.
|
| |
As to graduate from the college, for the
design competiton of graduating work, won the first (gold) prize
in entire Hokkaido district ( with two others working together;
I was in charge of designing a community space with a music hall
included ).
|
| |
Yet, more and more attracted to "violin-making",
a combination of aucostics, structural dynamics and art, headed
toward the way to making stringed instruments.
|
| 1979 |
Graduated from Muroran National Institute
of Technology with B.E. in architect. |
| |
After graduating, moved to Tokyo, and entered
in the workshop of Master Ueki, widely known as a violin-maker and
a dealer, then, pursued 6 years of studies and apprenticeship under
his guidance, and learned violin-making technics, of course, and
technics of repairing, adjusting, and also a very important spirit
as a craftman.
|
| 1986 |
Before being independent, went back to Europe
again. |
| |
Visited around quite a few shops of violin-makers,
lumber dealers in Germany and Italy mainly, had received many stimulations
and much inspiration. |
| |
Back to my hometown, Morioka, and formally
opened my own shop in the same year.
|
| |
Started taking a great interest in decorated
instruments, which are rare among all the stringed instruments.
|
| |
Especially attracted by " Hellier",
" Sunrise" of Stradivari, considered to be the tops of
decorated violins, I had repeatedly tried to study, design and make
different ones, and have established my own original methods and
fully facinating designs.
|
| |
Since then ,receiving orders from students,
future musicians, music performers and collectors of musical instruments,
continue making violins. |
| |
Now, a full member of Japan String Instrument
Makers Association (JSIMA), the most authoritative instrument association
in Japan. And also, a member of Japanese string teachers association(JASTA).
From 2008, I am also a member of Violin Society of America.
|
| |
And I may add that following.
|
| |
Many instruments ( violin , viola , cello ) that I made have
been used by
professional players and students who have been aiming to become
professional player .
For example , one of members of NHK symphony orchestra ( one
of the most famous professional orchestra in Japan ) , and one
of Tokyo-city philharmony orchestra , and so on , many professional
orchestra
players use the instruments that I made ,
et alia ,
one of famous
solist in Japan ,Mariko Senju , although she used to play
the violin that I made , now she has used " stradivarius " ,because
she bought the stradivarius a few years ago.
And professor of music course of Tokyo university
of fine arts -that is most famous school of art in Japan -
he played my violin in some concert,
And some violinst who graduated from wien national university
of music, some cellist who graduated from some university of
music of Japan ,( the players above-described ,their instruments
that I made have been alreadyplaced on my web-site, you can see
them in Japanese site of myweb-site).
And there is a unique owner of my instrument that I made ,he
is oneof the most Japnanese composer , "Tokuhide Niimi ".
And I may add that following.
Martin Storey ,maybe now ,he is professor of music course of
Parkuniversity of Kansas City , when he came to Japan for the
concert with his wife who is cocertmistress of Kansas City orchestra
( she was born in Japan ) , he played Bach's unaccompanied suites
with the instrumentthat I made ( cello) at several concert hall
4 times.
And I may add that following.
When the late Rostropovich (very famous cellist) came
to my shop to adjust the condition of his cello , he applauded
the instrument that I made.( the photo of that day was already
placed on my web-site.)
Although I hate to brag ,I mean that you may be easy in your
mind about the sound quality of the instruments that Il make.
Since being independent, I have kept being
extremely busy. And due to the situation that there are very
few violin makers, repaireres or ones who do adjusting in northern Japan, I have not
been able to join in any international string making competitions.
But I am sure that you could see and understand
well enough how reliable my technique is in all the pictures
on my web site. I am happy to be able to introduce to you myself
who live in a city, like Morioka, with a population of merely
280,000 or less.
I would be grateful to have accesses not
only from orders or inquiries but also from any of you and
have your different comments.
